Patreon is changing, and votes on projects will not be possible in the future.

The website projects.timkrief.com was an idea I launched in early 2023 (check this post for more info on what it was). The concept was simple, people donating were able to vote for which project they would want me to work on. Unfortunately, it was not a success. Too few people were donating and voting. It was still there for the past years but people weren’t using it.

The thing is, Patreon is changing. They decided subscriptions are not month based anymore. People can subscribe at any time in the month. However, the projects website was made with monthly votes in mind. It will stop working and it is not worth the effort trying to find a way to make it work.

It’s always sad when you spend time on something and have to let it go, but we wouldn’t want to fall into the sunk cost fallacy would we?

The patreon tiers are not really that different now since there are no more votes. I’ll try to think of new perks for the future.

Oh by the way! You can still tell me what your favorite projects are and suggest stuff more organically, I would be glad to hear from you.

What happens to the projects website? The projects website can still be helpful to track all the projects I worked on, or am still working on. I used it to create my own press kit for fallacy quiz for instance. I’ll have to remove all the voting systems.

After the failure of this projects website I started a new project, Fallacy Quiz, which was a success, and I’m now working on more content for it and a new project I talked about earlier here, so this is not a big loss, let’s keep going forward!
